Town of Cable is a quirky Wisconsin getaway with a giant race. Cable, WI, was the home of the now-defunct Wisconsin Wilderness Campus of Cairn University, where I got my first university teaching experience (2010-2012). I don’t come across news stories about Cable very often, so I thought I’d give it a shout-out.

I find the story fascinating because of the high standard to which we hold our news reporting, and I wonder whether it’s fair to expect someone to remember the details of something that happened twelve years ago. If he intended to deceive, he should lose his job. But it seems like he’s catching lots of flak for what ancient historiographers did all the time.
