Why didn’t the disciples see all this coming? It was hard to see, even though it was in the scriptures, and Jesus told them. The disciples up to this point have been living in the Old Creation paradigm, with assumptions based on how the broken, fallen, Old Creation works. They didn’t understand that New Creation, in the form of Jesus’s resurrection, would break into the middle of time. Jesus reveals to them the New Creation, and all it means for them and for the world.
